Couples Counseling
Couples may encounter problems when they are married, living together, dating, separated, or divorced. Different issues occur including communication, intimacy, power, finance, infertility, or gender roles.
Couples therapy focuses on the problems in the relationship existing between two people. It involves learning how to communicate more effectively, and how to listen more closely, helping you both to decide what changes are needed in the relationship and in the behavior of each partner. Therapy can help achieve the common goals where both individuals feel satisfied with the relationship.
Counseling for Teens
It is often challenging for parents to communicate with their teens. Adolescents can have feelings and emotional problems just like adults, ranging from childhood stress, eating disorders, self-harming behaviors, challenges related to parents' divorce, death, or problems at school.
Several members of our team of professionals specialize in dealing with children and teenagers. They can help your teenager learn to positively cope with the many challenges they face. Counseling allows your child to gain improved coping skills and helps you to understand your child's behavior and respond more effectively. By helping you heal the parent/child relationship we can enhance positive treatment outcomes.
Family Counseling
Families deal with many different challenges. In family counseling, focus is placed on changes within a family together, and recognizes that family relationships have an impact on the feelings, behavior, and psychological adjustment of every family member involved. Counseling may address such matters as conflict resolution, communication across generations, care giving, and coping with change.
Family counseling can improve the relationship between members. Family members perceive mutual relations as well as interaction patterns in the session apparent both for the therapist and the family. These patterns frequently mirror habitual interaction patterns at home. Counseling interventions focus on relationship patterns rather than on analyzing impulses of individuals.
Counseling for Adults. The counseling center offers a wide range of therapy for adults. Including such psychological issues of mood, anxiety, personality, cognitive and addictive disorders.
Anxiety
Anxiety includes common feelings of worry or fear. It usually ends when the situation that caused it is over. However, when these feelings become extremely out of proportion or constant, it may be severe. Physical and emotional symptoms may occur. Physical signs include heart palpitations, nausea, chest pain, shortness of breath, stomach aches, or headache. While emotional feelings of restlessness, inability to concentrate, endless fear, or irritability may occur.
Getting help early gives you the best chance for recovery. Counseling can help you recognize and accept your anxiety about specific fears or situations. Our counselors will help you by looking at your worries more thoroughly while changing the thoughts, behaviors, and patterns that lead to troublesome feelings. Depression
Depression can be a once in a lifetime event or have multiple recurrences. It can appear either gradually or suddenly, and can either last for a few months or be a life-long disorder. It is characterized by sadness, feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness, a pervasive low mood, loss of interest in usual activities, and diminished ability to experience pleasure. If left undiagnosed and untreated, depression can worsen, lasting for years and causing untold suffering, and possibly even result in suicide.
Counseling provided by a trained professional is an important part of treatment for depression. It provides relief from depressive symptoms and helps you cope with some of the causes of depression such as grief, anxiety, changing roles, and even physical pain. Support is provided by sharing information, exploring ideas on the social and interpersonal triggers that may cause depression, and development of strategies for coping with daily life.
